A&P Show

The A&P show is an amazingly good Agricultural show that is full of fun things to do like the trade
pavillion, the meadow fresh quiz, the food and wine area and the bouncy castles for all the little kids.

The farmyard is an amazing place for the littler kids under the age of 5. There are cloud like sheep and
nosy, fluffy goats. The farmyard is full of baby animals like lambs, ducklings, chicks and bunnies.

The trade pavillion is a warehouse with stalls of unique and creative objects like a nessie’s mop pack.
You can also get a tour around christchurch with ‘Soaring Kiwi Tours’

One of the best New Zealand games are at the A&P show; the Gumboot Throw! The Gumboot throw
is run by Kelly Sports and like all New Zealand games, The Gumboot Throw is amazing and stand up
to the gumboot throwing name.

Now you know a small bit about the A&P Show and you might want to go there next Year!

The foaming Coke Eruption.

In writing we were writing a recount about the coke and Mentos experiment. Here is my Work!

There was a rustle in the staff room bush in wigram primary. It was a warm and cloudy Monday morning.
Rican came out, just in time for our experiment. We had just spent the last 5 minutes playing ball rush with the whole Toroa team. We were dispersing into two groups, the Lab/Study and the launch. The Lab and
Study sat down outside the staff room, not knowing what would happen next. Ms Thomason held a packet
of hard, mint Mentos and she came towards a chair with a Coke Zero bottle on top. She unscrewed the
lid, and Ms McCormick just came to the scene. Everyone was yelling out “Four!”,so Ms T put 4 mentos
in, and the foaming coke shot up, and reached around 10 centimetres high. The brown, light, fuzzy looking
foam hovered in the air, then spread onto the blue plastic chair beneath it. The whole class sighed, let
down by the small shot of foam in the air. Ms Thomason tried again, but that wasn’t successful at all.
Mitchell Wall yelled out “Can I please have the rest of the Coke Ms Thomason?” Mitchell got a stern
answer of “No.” The Lab and the Study had headed to the Study room, with Ms Thomason in the lead and
Ms McCormick at the back.

I really enjoyed this because I find it a lot easier to write Recounts then Narratives.

poem

We had to do a rhyming poem and here is what I wrote.
(the underlines are the rhymes.)

flew a plane to the sky
But then I saw a giant Fly
The plane broke but never fell
And then I heard a bell
I woke up from my dream
But I saw the plane broken with a big beam

the black panther.

Black panther
By leo at wigram primary, year 6

I’ve always wondered why the black panther’s eyes glow in the dark of the moon. I walked through the dry
South African desert during June to find out why the black panther is so rare. I found the panther’s twisted
tree and there were claw marks everywhere and the panther was full black. It stared sharply with eyes of
green and the sharp fangs sprung out with the aggressive eyes. I knew that this tree was his, because he
wouldn’t have been irritated unless he owned it. There wasn’t that much around, except for a few trees and
a waterhole. I found some sticks and a couple of bones, bloody and sandy.

Night was arriving fast, so I built my tiny tent so I could watch how the panther hunted his prey and how
he used the black to his advantage. I woke up to the panther’s growl, so I peered outside the smallish
window and there was a lot of blood, but no body because it was already in the tree. I glanced up it was
a chubby zebra, it looked like it would have been the slowest in the harem. I fell back to sleep, and there
was silence when I woke. I walked outside for a while, with my folded tent and I managed to find 2 other
panthers, which were asleep. I pulled out my bands and banded them perfectly. I should have banded the
other panther but it was to aggravated.

My new objective was to hunt down the panthers and band them all. I managed to find a black tiger which
was technically a panther, because any big, black cat is a panther. I forgot that these bands had powerful
magnets so I threw the band and it was caught on the tiger’s leg. “3 down, 4 to go. Well at least that’s how
many I was told to band, 7 panthers and Greenpeace will do the rest.”

While I was talking to myself, 7 panthers surrounded me. I was in a sticky situation, and there was no
way to get out, because if I moved an inch I would have died. I had a plan, it would involve me running
like a maniac, with my hands in the air and throwing the magnetic bands everywhere. It might not work,
but it’s my only plan. “Wololololololololololololo” was what I screamed, throwing the bands and they all
landed on the panther’s legs, now I had to run. That 16 minutes of running flew past. I picked up my
phone and rang Greenpeace “Hello greenpeace this is Lucas bright and I’d have to say my work is now
complete, could you please come pick me up by a waterhole.” I waited for 2 hours and I flew off.

“Lucas bright, I told you to band seven but how could you find nine!” I could tell he was impressed.
“Dan, I’ll tell you a story...”

My German information report.

Germany
By Leo

Germany is a European country that shares borders with Poland, France and Switzerland.

German holidays
There are many holidays in Germany but one holiday is different from the rest. The Day of German
Unity is a German holiday on the 3rd of October, and is celebrated by Germans
all across the world. The clothes that Germans wear on that day for boys and men are
lederhosen but for the women they wear dirndl. The day of German unity is when the democratic
republic of Germany became apart of the German republic and that happened in 1990.
Lederhosen                                           dirndl
Image result for lederhosen png            Image result for dirndl png

Food
There are some amazing foods that Germans get to eat for dinner like, schnitzel, German fries,
himmel und erde (black pudding with fried onions and mashed potato) and zwiebelkuchen
(onion cake). There are also more like moprolls (fish roll), roast goose, roast chicken and many
other mouthwatering mains.

Germany’s Capital
Berlin is Germany’s capital. Some of Berlin’s amazing facts are,
  • Berlin has more bridges than Venice,
  • the Berlin wall wasn’t demolished in 1986 like most people think it was but it was
demolished in 1989.
  • The Berlin wall was a symbol of the cold war.
  • Germany’s capital used to be Bonn until in 2000 it was moved to Berlin.

German prison
Germany has one of the most comfortable prisons in the world. This prison is called the JVA
Fuhlsbuettel Prison near Hamburg, it is so fancy that they don’t have any security and let people
escape without re-arresting them (They probably won’t let you walk out through the front door though).
In some rooms they have flat screen tvs, couches, amazing looking beds and more!
There are exercise rooms with ping pong, yoga classes in a gym, clean new toilets and
delicious looking food.

Even though it seems like a fancy hotel, you can’t be free and do what you want to do outside.
You wouldn’t be able to go for a bike or go to a skatepark to do tricks. JVA is still a prison so
don’t think it’s a hotel.

Conclusion

Now you know a lot about Germany and one day you might want to go there to taste, see and enjoy
the attractions. Would you go to Germany after what is listed in this report? You might have thought
that Germany was still bad after world war II, but they have definitely changed for the better.

Today we were doing 2 coding programs. their names are scratch and code, The one that I liked the most was scratch because I already had experience on it. this is what I had made before today and today.
Code has levels unlike scratch and you have to follow instructions. They were both amazing though!

My scary story

I was 3 years old, and I was bouncing on the bed with my uncle chevy. He bounced to high and I was
launched towards the window. Mum ran into my Grandad’s room. We swiftly drove of to the christchurch
hospital. I ended up having stitches around my eyebrow because of that.

W.I.P character description

For the past week I have been working on writing a character description! Check out where I am so far!

Sarah Burke 2010.jpg

Sarah Burke. Sarah had a black rounded helmet, with a monster energy logo on the side, orange tinted goggles and a blue olympic vest. Under the vest Sarah was wearing an orange, red and white long sleeves with black pants and rainbow skis like all the colours lined up in a row. The ski poles were as dark as the bark of trees with small spikes underneath.

Image result for hoar frost
Hoar frosts
Hoar frosts have developed from being 0℃ for 24
hours.
Hoar frosts don’t start from snow, but they start
from the condensation of cold nights.
Hoar frosts can last for days if it stays cold.

The Hoar frosts trees can grow a spiky clothing if it
stays for a while.

Hoar frosts can turn netted fences into white walls.
The hoar frost has no snow but instead it has ice.

New ideas b.
The white part covering everything is like a glass net
so the cold can’t get out.
The little box makes sure the air that comes in cold
and bows out warm.

Evaluating A

I rate this text ten out of ten because it has
descriptive sentences, a great vocabulary, and a
small but detailed piece of writing.

Week 2 day 5: Coming to an End

VE day

My imaginary VE day party would be having a barbicue with burgers, sausages, kebabs, chicken drumsticks and walnuts. We would have a big meal and then later we would go for a swim. I would invite all of my close family and some family friends.

Making a fashion statment

Fashion is recyclable.
These are some fashions from 1940's, now and 65 years from now.
The fashion could go in a loop from the 1900's to the early 2000's and then in the future the fashion could come back to the 1900's. I don't really care to much about fashion as long as the clothes are comtorfable.

Week 2 Day 4: Another World War

An Eventful experience

I really enjoyed doing this research about WWII.

On the 3rd of September in 1939 Britain, New Zealand and Australia declared war on Germany. Britain declared war on Germany,  2 days before Germany invaded Poland.

On the 14th November 1940 Germany invaded Coventry and destroyed the Coventry Cathedral 10 hours later. The German division 'Luftflotte 3' bombed the Cathedral with bombs and granades from planes.

A call to arms

This is Sergeant Alfred Clive Hulme, a war hero that earned the Victoria Cross.

Sergeant Alfred Clive Hulme of the 23rd Battalion was from Canterbury and Otago.
He was born on the 24th of January 1911 in Dunedin and died on 2nd of September 1982 when he was 71. He killed 30 German snipers and destroyed 2 enemy tanks by himself before he got shot in the shoulder and was sent to the hospital and a year later he was discharged.

I think the things he did was really cool and brave.

Women at work

One day you are walking along the deck of the ship when you hear a loud bang. You start to run as you see smoke coming from the far end of the ship. You run towards the room where your patients are waiting to receive treatment from the doctor. Just as you arrive at the door to their room you hear another loud bang and you…

Bang! I heard a gun shot on the bow of my ship 'The Somersetshire' I'm lucky i'm on the stern. I start to run to the nearest staircase which is at the port to check on my patient Jack Hilton who was rescued from the Germans yesterday. He was found unconcious when we rescued him. I found the room and I saw that every thing was intact.

Bang! Bang! Bang! The shots grew louder and louder, I hid under Jacks hospital bed spread out like a starfish. The person (who spoke German) pushed the bed over, I looked around and didn't see any of my people except Jack laying helpless on the floor. He took me to the hull of our ship to a room that could fit everyone.. everyone except me. There was no room for me and he thought I wasn't brave, he thought I would be just a scared nurse too scared to do anything so he locked the door where my friends and patients were and walked away.. but I had a key and when he had dissapeared I unlocked the door and everyone ran to safety.

I'm a hero I thought, but that was only the start.

Week 2 Day 3: The Great Depression

 Dealing with stress

It must have been hard to live in the 1930's because you could have a really poor family and not like it because you could get dirty water, unhealthy food and miss out on heaps like school for no uniforms or lunch.
These are my tips of avoiding stress
1. slowly breathe.
2. do something you like.
3. make sure you don't do something you don't like.
4. exercise.
5. go for a ride on your bike, scooter or skateboard.

Offering a helping hand.

what I would do to help the poor would be giving vegetable seeds and fresh fish and meat packs. I would help build a container house community and put the big shared garden in the middle with a playground

I drew a picture of what i think my container community would look like

Paying it forward.

Image result for giving to othersGifts and Treats, who doesn't like them? If I had to bring gifts and treats to a 1930's family I would bring Cadbury Milk Chocolate, a bag of Kiwifruit, some lamingtons, clothes, Monopoly here and now New Zealand edition and cookie time cookies.

Week 2 Day 2: The roaring 20's.

Image result for black and white movie picturesThe Silent Movies.

I would enjoy watching silent movies because they are really short but funny.  I feel like people should try and get the old films, find sound and make the pictures colourful again so more kids would watch them. Charlie Chaplin was a famous comedian and mime and alot of people still dress up like him because he was funny.

Art Deco.

I rate the portrait 5 out of 5 because it is really good and I quite like how it isn't just a person. It's not very colourful but in a good way and you can see shapes throughout. The artist has put a lot of work into the painting and it looks like it took days to paint.

Crossing the Tasman

I have created a poem about flying over the Tasman Sea in a plane called the Southern Cross
